. Crysta Gonzalez (originally Corthron) was born October 12th, 1964 and grew up in Buffalo Gap, Texas, a small town near Abilene. Her art career began as a freelance sign-painter in the Abilene area before her studies had even begun. After obtaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree at Texas Tech Universtity, she relocated to the Dallas area, where she Joined the Deep Ellum Art Group and participated in group shows in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex. By 1988, she was first responsible for the visual presentation at Rush Art Co. in Dallas and went on to apply her skills as an interior and window designer for Nieman – Marcus in 1989. In the fall of 1992, she moved to New York City, eventually designing window installations for Bergdorf Goodman. In 1997, she crossed the Atlantic and began working in the visual department at Quartier 206 in Berlin, Germany, later becoming creative director. With the intention of furthering her career as an artist, she resumed her studies and obtained her master’s degree at the University of the Arts in Berlin. Since 2004, she has been self-employed as an artist, exhibiting her work in local businesses and galleries, as well as designing lighting on commission. . |
